Mosquitoes Don't Just Bite... They Can Spread Heartworms.
Did you know a single mosquito bite can spread heartworms?
When a mosquito bites an infected animal, it can pick up tiny baby heartworms. The next time that mosquito bites another dog or cat, it can pass those heartworms along.
The scary part?
Your pet doesn't have to play in the woods or go hiking.
Mosquitoes live in:
● Your backyard
● Parks
● Neighborhoods
● Even inside your home
That means every pet is at risk.
Warm weather means mosquitoes are active for much of the year.
That means dogs and cats living right here around Lake Norman, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, and Charlotte are at risk for heartworm disease.
Even indoor pets can be bitten by mosquitoes that get inside.
Who Can Get Heartworms?
✔ Dogs
✔ Cats
✔ Puppies
✔ Kittens
If mosquitoes can bite them...
they can get heartworms.
Heartworms are almost completely preventable. Learn more about the power of prevention here.
Giving heartworm prevention every month protects your pet before heartworms have a chance to grow.
Missing even one or two months can leave your pet unprotected.
