In-Hospital Labwork

In-Hospital Labwork for Pets | Quick & Accurate Diagnostics

At Main Street Veterinary Hospital, timely and accurate diagnostics play an important role in caring for your pet. That’s why we offer in-hospital labwork for many common tests, along with send-out testing through trusted veterinary laboratories when a more detailed evaluation is needed.

In-Hospital Testing

During your visit, our team can perform select diagnostic tests right in the hospital, allowing us to get answers quickly when your pet isn’t feeling well. In-hospital testing may include:

  • Heartworm testing for dogs to screen for this serious mosquito-borne disease

  • FeLV and FIV testing for cats to evaluate immune health

  • Basic kidney and liver function testing

  • Electrolyte levels and other core values that help assess illness

When your pet is sick, and you need answers now, these in-hospital results allow our veterinarian to assess what’s happening and discuss next steps during the same visit.

Send-Out Laboratory Testing

For a more detailed picture of your pet’s health, we also collect samples in the hospital and send them to an outside veterinary laboratory. This testing helps evaluate:

  • Kidney and liver function in greater detail

  • Thyroid levels and electrolyte balance

  • Blood cell counts and organ enzyme values

  • Signs of infection, inflammation, or metabolic disease

Send-out testing is commonly used for wellness screenings, pre-surgical evaluations, and ongoing medical concerns.

Clear Answers, Thoughtful Care

All lab samples are collected during your visit to Main Street Veterinary Hospital for convenience and consistency. Once results are available, our veterinarian will review them with you and recommend any follow-up care or treatment needed.

Our focus is on providing timely information, clear communication, and dependable diagnostic care to support your pet’s health.
