Meet Our Doctors

Once a gymnast, collegiate pole vaulter and soccer player, Dr. Goodwin’s love of animals eventually conquered that of athletics when she took an apprenticeship assisting Dr. Bonar at the Cleveland Zoo while an undergraduate student at Case Western Reserve University. After double majoring in biology and chemistry, Dr. Goodwin was admitted to The Ohio State University where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Seeking a warmer life, Dr. Goodwin migrated to the Carolinas and has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Lake Norman area since 2008. An outdoor enthusiast, Dr. Goodwin can regularly be found exploring the beautiful mountains and beaches of the Carolinas with her husband, Michael, son, Alexander, and Golden Retriever, Dalton.

Dedicated to forming lifelong, collaborative partnerships with clients and their pets, Dr. Goodwin’s special interests include soft tissue surgery and animal behavior.

Dr. Lori Hoe has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine in the Lake Norman area since 2007. She is passionate about pets and the people that love them. Dr. Hoe graduated with highest distinction and honors from Penn State University and Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Hoe married her college sweetheart, David. They live in Cornelius with their two sons, Zachary and Hunter. The Hoe’s fur babies include Eva, a very sweet Black Lab, Gertie, a three-legged cat rescued by one of our clients, Kenzie, a playful Golden Retriever, and Nigel, who is a very curious kitty! Dr. Hoe enjoys spending time with her family boating on Lake Norman and hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains.

Dr. Manzie grew up on Amelia Island in northeast Florida, where she aspired to be a vet since she was a young girl. She attended the University of Florida where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 2009 and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2014.

After graduation Dr. Manzie moved to North Carolina and married her high school sweetheart, Taylor, a mechanical engineer. They now live in Huntersville with their Boxer mix named Kyra, a cat named Ziva, and a Labrador Retriever named Sugar. She is an avid runner and outdoor adventurer. In her free time she enjoys backpacking and camping with her husband and dogs.

Dr. Manzie is committed to building lasting bonds with her clients and patients. She has a special interest in surgery, clinical pathology, and internal medicine.

Dr. Wasserman grew up near Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Xavier University for his undergraduate education. After a brief stint as an accounting major, he ultimately decided to change course and pursue natural sciences, graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.

Dr. Wasserman has worked in and around the Cincinnati area since graduation, but is excited about the opportunity to move south and join the team at Main Street Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Wasserman’s wife, Allie, has family in Cornelius, and the opportunity to move closer to family was difficult to pass up. Dr. Wasserman spends his free time with his wife, three children (Charlie, Henry and Ella) and pup (Lily). He also has two lovely cats (Meejy and Terra) that enjoy ignoring him.

Professionally, Dr. Wasserman has special interest in surgery and dentistry. Personally, he enjoys music (both listening and playing) and various home improvement projects.

Dr. Atkins is originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, but moved to the Carolinas while in college and has no plans to leave! She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from College of Charleston and went on to earn her veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Atkins now lives in Charlotte with her husband Josh and three dogs Scout (Great Pyrenees mix), Remy (Labrador) and Winston (Labrador). In her free time, she enjoys furniture restoration, antiquing, baking, and visiting the mountains.

Dr. Atkins has a special interest in pain management, surgery, nutrition, and geriatric and end-of-life care.

Dr. Steven Grant Waldrop, fondly known as "Dr. Grant," has called the Charlotte, NC area home for nearly three years since graduating from Virginia Tech. Passionate about exploration, he enjoys traveling, spending quality time with friends and family, and immersing himself in the great outdoors. When not at Main Street, he can be found indulging in hobbies like fishing, gardening, kayaking, hiking, or tending to various projects around the house—all while keeping a close eye on his beloved pets. As a proud fur dad, he shares his home with an 8-year-old Weimaraner named Georgia, a collection of dart frogs, chickens, freshwater fish, and a captivating reef tank. During his time in vet school, Dr. Grant also earned a PhD in infectious diseases! With a genuine love for connecting with clients, staff, and patients, he eagerly anticipates becoming an integral part of the Main Street family. Dr. Grant looks forward to welcoming your beloved dogs and cats along with your exotic pets (pocket pets, reptiles, fish) plus hobby farm animals (small goats, sheep, potbellied pigs, ducks, chickens), alike, to his exam rooms!

Dr. Whitlock is originally from Pennsylvania, but has lived in the South for 25 years. She received both her Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and Master’s degree in Earth and Environmental Resources Management at the University of South Carolina.

While in college she worked in a small animal hospital and adopted her first dog, a German Shorthaired Pointer named Toby. Initially she was a pet owner who just loved her dog as a family member and wanted to do everything she could for him.

After having the opportunity to work with other dogs and cats that were just as special as Toby, Dr. Whitlock quickly knew her future was in veterinary medicine. Wanting to come back to the Carolinas after completing her Veterinary degree at the University of Georgia, she is happy to have settled in Huntersville.

She has been practicing Veterinary medicine in the Lake Norman area for the past eleven years. Dr. Whitlock has a special interest in dentistry, dermatology, and internal medicine.

In her free time, Dr. Whitlock enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. Her family includes her husband Jon, children Elsa and Simon, a very high energy dog named Zeke and an English Pointer named Cassie who loves to stalk anything that moves.

Dr. Melissa Moskowitz is originally from Connecticut and fell in love with veterinary medicine when she took an animal science class through her high school’s agricultural program.

Simultaneously, she started working as a veterinary assistant and has been in the veterinary profession ever since. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science at the
University of Connecticut. She then graduated from Colorado State University in 2010 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, she completed a one year long internship at VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where she received additional training under the guidance of multiple medical, surgical, and emergency specialists.

After working as a veterinarian in both Washington and Massachusetts, Dr. Moskowitz moved to North Carolina in 2015 and has been proud to call Charlotte her home ever since. She enjoys multiple aspects of being a veterinarian, but has special interests in preventative medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, and dentistry. She truly enjoys getting to know her clients and patients to provide individualized care.

When she is not working, Dr. Moskowitz enjoys hiking with her Labrador/Coonhound mix Willie, and spending time with her family and friends. She also loves to dance and will travel throughout North America to train and enjoy this hobby.

Dr. Kaitlyn Johnson grew up in the small town of Gilbert, West Virginia, and went on to attend West Virginia University, where she earned her degree in Exercise Physiology. Initially planning to pursue human medicine, she discovered her passion for veterinary care during her senior year and shifted her path toward becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025.

Dr. Johnson now resides in the Mt. Ulla, North Carolina area with her lively household of six dogs—Zeus, Nala, Finley, Cherokee, Dolly, and Poppy—and her 18-year-old cat, Tawni. Her canine family includes three Shetland Sheepdogs, as well as a collie, a long-haired Chihuahua, and a spirited Pomeranian, many of whom were adopted.

Her professional interests include pediatric and geriatric medicine, theriogenology, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and the care of pocket pets. She is Fear Free Certified and is passionate about creating a low-stress, compassionate experience for all of her patients.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys participating in Bible studies, spending quality time with friends and family, singing, playing tennis, kayaking, reading, and baking.
