Main Street Veterinary Hospital is proud to partner with Dr. Erin McCarragher, a board-certified veterinary cardiologist who provides advanced cardiac evaluations and diagnostics right here in our hospital.
Working alongside our veterinarians, Dr. McCarragher helps diagnose and manage a wide range of heart conditions in both dogs and cats. From heart murmurs and arrhythmias to congenital heart disease and congestive heart failure, she provides specialized expertise to help ensure pets receive the highest level of cardiac care in a familiar and comfortable environment.
Using advanced diagnostic tools, including echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), Dr. McCarragher evaluates heart function, develops individualized treatment recommendations, and collaborates closely with your Main Street veterinarian to create a comprehensive care plan. This partnership allows your pet's primary care team and cardiologist to work together seamlessly, providing coordinated care from diagnosis through long-term management.
Dr. McCarragher earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital in Colorado, followed by a specialty internship in cardiology at VCA Animal Specialty and Emergency Center in California. She then completed a three-year cardiology residency at Oregon State University, becoming a board-certified veterinary cardiologist.
After several years serving the Charlotte region as a private practice cardiologist, Dr. McCarragher is excited to work more closely with local veterinary hospitals through mobile specialty care. She has a special interest in the long-term management of congestive heart failure, congenital heart disease, and helping pets maintain the best possible quality of life while supporting families through every stage of treatment.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. McCarragher enjoys traveling, hiking, exploring new restaurants, attending live music and sporting events, and cheering on her favorite hockey teams. She also loves spending quiet time at home gardening, reading, listening to music, and relaxing with her two orange tabby cats, Kimba and Loki.
Through our partnership with Dr. McCarragher, Main Street Veterinary Hospital is able to offer advanced cardiac care locally, allowing pets to receive specialized heart evaluations while remaining in the trusted environment of the hospital they already know.
