Thanks to the outpouring of support from this amazing community, Sam had surgery today to repair his broken tibia and fibula. His surgery went well and was performed by a board certified veterinary orthopedic surgeon in Hickory, NC. The fracture in his right tibia was reduced and stabilized with a bone plate and bone screws. He is resting comfortably tonight in Hickory. Tomorrow he will return to Main Street Veterinary Hospital for his follow up care and rehab. Sam will stay with us for 8 weeks. During this time he needs to remain quiet and be diligent about his rehab! We will take follow up x-rays 8 weeks post-op to determine if the bone has healed.
We welcome anyone that would like to see Sam to come visit him at Main Street Veterinary Hospital (20306 N Main Street, Cornelius). He gives great doggie kisses!
We are still so amazed at the support and generosity Sam has received. He is extremely grateful for his second chance!
